The relationship you want...
If you’re looking for love,
or would like to know how a new relationship is likely to develop, the Two of
Cups is a welcome card to see in a Tarot spread.
It represents the union of
two people, harmoniously working together, sharing, helping one another and
establishing and cementing a solid friendship or relationship.
There is often both a strong
soul connection and physical attraction between the couple. What is instantly
felt and acknowledged is that sense of familiarity, like we’ve met our
‘soulmate’ and a desire to work together towards achieving a mutual goal. There
is trust, understanding, kindness, thoughtfulness and loving affection between
these two souls.
They share a passionate bond
that would be difficult to break and because of this, should try to always
cherish, preserve their relationship through all the ups and downs, because
undoubtedly, there will be ups and downs.
Soulmate relationships are
not exclusive to challenges. In fact, they are most likely the ones to test us
the most, as the purpose of soulmate relationships are to help us learn and
grow. The lessons we learn from our soulmates are often hard, but we value such
relationships in our lives to enrich us with experiences in order for us to
evolve.
The story of Eros and Psyche
tells of these challenges, lessons, and with greater understanding can help us
effectively deal with them. Here, we see Psyche bound to the rock that Aphrodite
summoned her upon, whilst she awaits her ill fate of falling in love with the
horrid monster lurking beneath the sea. Click here... to learn more about this
myth and how it can help your relationships. This being the initial meeting
between Eros and Psyche, we must remember that at this point they don’t yet really
know one another. Psyche thinks she’s alone, doomed with her single golden cup
sitting just in front of her, and does not see Eros behind her. However, she can
feel him like a soft, gentle wind. Hence why Eros, or our soulmate, is often
referred to as a Zephyr.
This couple is what we call
being ‘blindly in love’ not yet able to see one another’s faults at this early
stage of the relationship. From our solitude and the raw energy of seeking love
in the Ace of Cups, to finding it here in the two, it’s easy to see how we can fall
head over heels in love without yet fully knowing one another. So there is a
great deal yet to go in their journey, but for now, this union forms a firm
foundation for which the relationship, provided there is mutual understanding,
love and respect, can only prosper.
The Two of Cups doesn’t
always pertain to a new relationship. Sometimes it can represent a truce, or
coming to a satisfactory agreement between the couple after a separation. This
can be very healing and a chance for forgiveness on both parts.
Although it is a card
predominantly associated with relationships of the romantic kind, the
fundamental meaning of it can relate and be applied to other relationships such
as friendships and business partnerships.
Overall, the Two of Cups is a
very positive card, however depending on the context of the question being
asked, the position in which it appears in the spread and the surrounding cards
will determine the strength of it’s appearance in a reading.
