Card of the Moment

Six of Cups

Relationship Healing….

It’s a bit like taking a trip down memory lane when the Six of Cups appears in a Tarot reading. Perhaps an ex-lover will come back into your life and either or both of you may find yourselves reminiscing about the good old times. There’s a real feeling of nostalgia, which is often accompanied with great healing and an understanding of the relationship one could not have attained if they hadn’t gone through the difficult, painful experience of the Five of Cups.

In the myth of Eros and Psyche, the Five of Cups is the unpleasant point in their relationship where disappointment and separation occurs. Here in the Six of Cups we see Psyche sitting alone on a rock, abandoned by Eros and left with seemingly not much else other than her memories of what she’s lost. However, despite her dissatisfaction and sadness, Psyche appears at peace as a result of her having time to reflect on what happened in the past, the role she played in the relationship and because she is now able to see the relationship for what it truly is. The Six of Cups is a positive, happy card in that it can represent a possible reconciliation, however this is not always the case as that is not all what the card is about. Although it doesn’t always promise a long-term reconciliation, what it does offer is the opportunity to reflect on the past, having gained a deeper understanding of it and therefore consideration of what might be possible for the future. It allows a couple to revisit and rethink their relationship so that they can move forward either with or without one another. How much do you want your relationship to work? Now is the time for both of you to decide…
